30Jun11

Happy Father’s Day!  It’s great being a dad.  We get to hold our little girls then watch with joy as we give her away to a godly young man.  We get to nudge our little guys then watch as they push forward in athletics, education, business or any of their dreams. We give our girls baby dolls, and we cry when they offer to us the privilege of holding a grandchild.  We give our boys bits of wisdom passed on to us from our dads, granddads, and uncles then smile with satisfaction when we hear them offer the same words to their sons.  It’s great being a dad.

The gospel has everything to do with our capacity and potential to be good dads.  Part of the saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ is that He will “turn the hearts of the fathers to their children’ (Luke 1:17). Because of Jesus we can have joyful, vibrant, spiritual relationships with each of our children.  When a man truly gives his heart to Christ, it is turned toward his children
