10Jun11

We must not cease to wonder at the great marvels of our God. It would be very difficult to draw a line between holy wonder and real worship; for when the soul is overwhelmed with the majesty of God’s glory, though it may not express itself in song, or even utter its voice with bowed head in humble prayer, yet it silently adores. Our incarnate God is to be worshipped as ‘the Wonderful.’ That God should consider his fallen creature, man, and instead of sweeping him away with the besom of destruction, should Himself undertake to be man’s Redeemer, and to pay his ransom price, is, indeed marvelous! But to each believer redemption is most marvelous as he views it in relation to himself. It is a miracle of grace indeed, that Jesus should forsake the thrones and royalties above, to suffer ignominiously below for you. Let your soul lose itself in wonder, for wonder is in this way a very practical emotion. Holy wonder will lead you to grateful worship and heartfelt thanksgiving.

With these helpful words from C.H. Spurgeon, we consider our God and His great redemptive work on our behalf in His Son, Jesus Christ.  It is time to meet God.  May your soul lose itself in the wonder of Him. Please take the moments prior to the service to prepare for worship.  Our children through third grade should dismiss to Children’s Church following the offering.

JUNE SCRIPTURE MEMORY – Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

SUMMER FILM NIGHT – Join us on Sunday, June 12 at 5:00pm as we show the film Milltown Pride.  Milltown Pride tells of a young man who dreams of playing professional baseball, his rise as a baseball star, his fall from grace, and the redemption he finds through faith and love. This is a church-wide evangelistic opportunity.  Pick up flyers in the lobby and invite your baseball or softball team, your neighbors, and family.

SUMMER WEDNESDAY MEALS – Join together this Wednesday night for a great meal prior to prayer meeting, children’s ministries, and youth ministries. Meals are served from 6:00—6:40pm. The cost for the meal is $2 per person or $10 per family. Please help with planning by signing up at the resource center.  Also, please sign up at the resource center to host a weekly meal.

SUMMER CHILDREN’S MINISTRY – Kids K4-6th grade are invited to join us at 7:00pm on Wednesday nights beginning June 8th for our Summer Kids’ Club!  This summer, we will have a fun time together as we learn BASICS 252 (based off of Luke 2:52).

STUDENT IMPACT CANOE TRIP –  Teens, sign up in the youth room for the SI Canoe Trip on the Cannon River.  We will leave the church at 9am on Saturday, June 18th.  The cost will be $15/person.  Bring a lunch and friend!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL MEETING – All VBS workers should plan on attending the meeting on Wednesday, June 15 at 8pm.  We are still in need of a couple of adult workers.  Please see Pastor Chris if available and plan to join us for the June 15th meeting.

MEMBERSIHP – We believe all professing Christians should be members of local body of believers.  If you agree with our doctrine and philosophy of ministry, we hope you will consider membership.  Please see either pastor for more information.
