02Aug11

One of the most difficult concepts for us to accept is our own sinfulness.  We all know that we are not perfect, but that really is not the crux of the matter.  The fact is sin is my primary problem, and that’s hard to swallow. Consider author and counselor Ed Welch on the subject:

Sin by its very nature is more often quiet and secretive than loud and public.  For every overt episode of rage, there are dozens of jealousies, manipulations, white lies, and malicious thoughts, none of which immediately register on the conscience.  And, according to Scripture, the greatest sin of all is even more covert: I do not love the Lord my God with my whole mind and heart.  If our failure to consistently worship the true God is the key feature of sin, we are sinners all.

Worship of the creator God moves us from our sinful bent toward righteous thinking and living.  We need to worship, both publicly and privately.  May your private worship grow your love for the Lord, and may our public worship please the Lord.  It is time to meet God.  Please take the moments prior to the service to prepare your heart for worship

JULY SCRIPTURE MEMORY – Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
